Three Stars (Week 5)

First Star: Troy Grosenick (Union)
So far this season, the transition from All-American Keith Kinkaid to the sophomore netminder has been absolutely flawless. No one has even mentioned Kinkaid this season because Grosenick has been stellar this season. The Dutchmen opened up their league schedule with the always tough trip to the North Country. On Friday night, Grosenick was Union's best player as he shutout the Saints in a 2-0 victory. The following night the Wisconsin native kept the Golden Knights scoreless for 52+ minutes. Combined, he made 49 saves and allowed just one goal. Grosenick currently leads the nation in Goals-Against Average (1.23) and Save Percentage (.949)

Second Star: Austin Smith (Colgate)
Despite getting shutout on Saturday night by Yale, Smith's performance on Friday against Brown makes him worthy of the Second Star. First, he gave the Raiders and early 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal. Then, with under five minutes left in regulation in a 3-3 game, Smith netted ANOTHER shortie to give the Raiders a lead they would not relinquish [Click Here For Video Highlights]. The win gave head coach Don Vaughan 300 wins in his career. Smith is currently second in the nation with nine goals, and is first with three shorthanded goals. Five of his nine tallies have been special teams goals.

Third Star: Brian Ferlin (Cornell)
The highly touted rookie proved why he's so highly regarded with a five point weekend. He scored a goal and added two assists in Friday's 6-2 demolition of Yale, and had a goal and assist in a 5-4 loss to Brown. He was also +5 on the weekend. Not a bad way to start your ECAC career! Last year for the Indiana Ice (USHL), the Florida native accumulated 73 points (25 goals, 48 assists) in 55 games. Ferlin is a part of a very promising freshman class for the Big Red along with Joakim Ryan and Joel Lowry.

Honorable Mention:
Dustin Walsh (Dartmouth): two goals and three assists in two Big Green victories.

Kelly Zajac  (Union): three assists in two Union wins, which gives him 100 career points.

Kyle Bodie (Union): one goal and 3 assists... had his hand in four of Union's five goals this weekend.
