Three Stars (Week 6)

Jeff Malcolm
First Star: Jeff Malcolm (Yale)
When you don't allow a goal all weekend, it's pretty hard not to be the first star of the week. After allowing five goals against Cornell in the ECAC opener, Malcolm has not allowed the opposition to put the puck pat him. After the loss to the Big Red, he shut out Colgate, and this weekend he shutout RPI and Union on the road. The junior netminder made 27 saves against the Engineers in a 2-0 win, and then made an astounding 45 saves the following night in Schenectady against the Dutchmen to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-0 win. Malcolm is now second in the nation in GAA (1.32) and is first in save percentage (.960). His current shutout streak now stands at 182:51. The next two games for Yale are against Sacred Heart and UConn, so this streak has a good chance of extending.
Nick D'Agostino

Second Star: Nick D'Agostino (Cornell)
The junior defenseman had a huge weekend for the Big Red as they swept games at Harvard and Dartmouth. He netted two goals in the 4-2 win over the Crimson, and then potted two more in the win over the Big Green. On Friday night, D'Agostino scored Cornell's second and third goals, both on the power-play. The following night, he did the same thing, scoring Cornell's second and third goals. His first was on the power-play, and the other was the game-winner that came midway through the third period. In five games, the Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick has eight points (4 goals, 4 assists), which is tied for the team lead. He is also tied for the most goals and is second in most points among ECAC defensemen.

Dan Otto
Third Star: Dan Otto (Yale)
Senior forward Dan Otto waited a long time to score his first NCAA goal. Right before getting to Yale, Otto was diagnosed with a bilateral sports hernia. There were many surgeries and complications along the way, but Otto has finally returned to the ice for his senior year. He put an exclamation point on his return with two goals in Yale's 4-0 win at #9 Union. It must have been such an exciting moment for Otto. I bet he has been dreaming of that moment for a very long time. You can read about his long journey here, and watch his post-game press conference here.
