Three Stars (Week 8)

Alex Killorn
Just a note: when doing my Three Stars I take into account the player's impact on the team. Sparking a team to a comeback, scoring goals against tough teams, etc. will earn a guy extra points in my book. If a player puts up good numbers, but the team loses, I don't find those stats to be as impressive. It's just the way I like to do this, and I think it's pretty evident in this week's Three Stars.

First Star: Alex Killorn (Harvard)
Killorn earned the letter on his chest with his performance at New Hampshire his past Tuesday. With the Crimson down 4-0 after one period, Killorn sparked his team to an epic comeback win. He scored Harvard's first goal with a power-play tally to make the score. Later in the period he assisted on Alex Fallstrom's goal to cut the deficit to 5-3 with two minutes left in the period. Killorn then cut the Wildcats' lead to one when he netted a goal with five seconds left in the period. This second period performance sparked Colin Blackwell's two-goal performance in the second period, which gave the Crimson a lead that they would not relinquish. The senior also added an assist in the tie against Dartmouth.
Jeremy Welsh

Second Star: Jeremy Welsh (Union)
Union's win over Michigan on Sunday might be the biggest win by an ECAC team so far this season, and Welsh is a big reason why the Dutchmen pulled out the 6-3 victory at Yost Arena. The Dutchmen went up 3-0 after one period, but have had slight problems holding on to leads this season. It's also tough to play at Michigan, especially if you have never been there before. But, Welsh made sure the Wolverines never had a chance with a goal early in the second period to give Union a 4-0 lead, which was eventually the game-winning goal. Michigan tried to comeback as they cut the deficit in half early in the third period, but Welsh once again responded with a power-play goal to put the game out of reach.

Third Star (tie): Eric Robinson (Dartmouth) and Kenny Agostino (Yale)
Kenny Agostino
Robinson and Agostino had great individual performances this weekend, but neither one's team one a game this week. Robinson scored a goal in Dartmouth's 3-3 tie with Harvard, and potted two more in a 5-3 loss to Vermont. Agostino scored a goal and added two assists in Yale's shocking 7-6 loss against Sacred Heart, and also netted a goal in the devastating 3-2 loss against Boston College. Statistically, these guys had the best offensive performances in the league, but they weren't good enough to propel their teams to a victory.

Honorable Mention:
Colin Blackwell (Harvard): 2 goals vs. New Hampshire; 1 assist vs. Dartmouth

Eric Robinson
Andy Iles (Cornell): 24 saves vs. Niagara; 25 saves vs. BU

Kyle Essery (SLU): 2 goals, 1 assist vs. Michigan Tech

Matt Firman (Colgate): 2 goals vs. Vermont

Dan Carr (Union): 1 goal, 1 assist vs. Michigan

Louke Oakley (Clarkson): 1 goal, 1 assist vs. Maine

Nick Tremblay (Clarkson): 1 assist vs. Maine, 2 goals vs. Holy Cross
