ECAC Hockey Video of the Week: It's a Festivus Miracle!

Not sure if everyone saw this, but it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen at a college hockey game (and I've been to hundreds of them).

You know how during intermissions at many rinks there's a contest to see if someone can shoot a puck from center ice through a tiny puck-sized hole in front of a net? If you do, then you know how rare it is for someone to actually score. I've never seen this happen before... until the second intermission of the Union-RPI game in Lake Placid this past weekend during the Festivus Faceoff. But, what else would you expect to happen at the place where the "Miracle on Ice" occurred?

The "miracle worker" was Union fan Matt Alheim. With his Union hockey jersey on, he grabbed a stick and flung the puck towards the net hoping it would some how perfectly fit through the small hole and into the net. And some how, it went through. The whole arena full of Union, RPI, Clarkson, and SLU fans erupted into an applause louder than anything I heard during the game. I just stood there with my mouth open.

Mr. Alheim also seemed to be in shock, and when I saw him after the game he still seemed to be in that same state of mind.

Congrats and enjoy your new car, Matt!
