Three Stars (Week 10)

Corey Tamblyn
First Star (tie): Corey Tamblyn (Clarkson) and Chris Martin (SLU)
These two rivals tied this week because they essentially did the same thing. Both players accumulated two goals and an assist in the two Clarkson-SLU matchups this week, where Clarkson won on Tuesday night and St. Lawrence won on Saturday. Tamblyn netted a goal and added an assist in Clarkson's win, while Martin did the same in SLU's win. Also, both players scored in their team's loss.

Chris Martin
Tamblyn scored Clarkson's third goal and assisted on the second one in Tuesday night's 5-3 win. Martin scored SLU's first goal in that game, which at the time cut Clarkson's lead to 2-1 early in the second period. In Lake Placid, Martin came up big in the third period with his team up 2-1. He assisted on Greg Carey's goal within the first minute of the period, and then sealed the victory with a goal later in the period. Both of these players proved that they can come up big in important games. Every Clarkson-SLU game is like the Super Bowl to people in the North Country.

Second Star: Patrick McNally (Harvard)
Patrick McNally
I really haven't heard much about McNally, but his NCAA career is off to a great start. This may be due to the fact that he's been overshadowed by teammate and superstar defenseman Danny Biega, or other rookies like Brian Ferlin have taken most of the spotlight. He is currently fourth among ECAC defensemen with 12 points, and is tied for second with three power-play goals. This past weekend he picked up three points in a crucial 4-3 win over Princeton. He scored the game's first goal, on the power-play, less than a minute into the game. McNally then assisted on Marshall Everson's PP tally, and added another helper on Biega's eventual game-winning goal in the third period. The Vancouver Canucks draft pick is a major reason why the Crimson lead all ECAC teams with 3.50 goals per game, and lead the nation with a 32.08% power-play conversion rate.

Eric Mihalik
Third Star: Eric Mihalik (Colgate)
The Raiders netminder came up big in arguably the biggest game for an ECAC team this season so far. Mihalik made 25 saves in a 1-1 tie with #5 Merrimack on Saturday night at Starr Rink. Goals are hard to come by against the Warriors considering they are tied for the nation's lead in goals against per game with Cornell (1.64) and have one of the nation's top goaltenders in Joe Cannata (1.75 GAA). So, if you want to have any shot to win against them, your goaltender has to play great. While Colgate did not win, a 1-1 tie is pretty good and they have Mihalik to thank for that.

Honorable Mention:
Will Frederick (Clarkson): 2 goals, 1assist vs. SLU (Tuesday)
Matt Zarbo (Clarkson): 1 goal, 1assist vs. SLU (Tuesday)
Joe Zarbo (Clarkson): 1 goal, 1 assist vs. SLU (Tuesday)
Loren Barron (Quinnipiac): 1 goal, 2 assists vs. Sacred Heart
Yuri Bouharevich (Quinnipiac): 1 goal, 1 assist vs. Sacred Heart; 1 assist vs. Princeton
Zack Currie (Quinnipiac): 2g vs. Princeton
Wayne Simpson (Union): 1 goal, 1 assist vs. RPI (PP GWG)
Jeremy Welsh (Union): 1g, 1a vs. RPI (5-game goal streak)
Marc Hagel (Princeton): 2 goals vs. Harvard
Michael Sdao (Princeton): 1 assist vs. Harvard; 1 goal, 1 assist vs. Quinnipiac
